Bed Chat

It's always so fun to just lay around and visit on the bed! One of my last memories is laying on Karen's bed and visiting while Karen kept telling the boys to go away and let us have our girl talk!

Savage family at 50th wedding party

This is a forever family picture...taken by me at Mom and Dad's 50th wedding party at Gary's house.

In the van

I love this picture of Karen. I always liked her worn this way as it was so classic and she wore it well. Not many people can pull their hair back in a coated band and be ready for any event...but she could, and looked great!

Karen loved her van and was going to drive it until it gave up! She loved the functionality of it and not having to worry about ruining a new car with the boys. Something said for that!

Dinner conversation

Disclaimer: We seem to get a lot of pictures in our family of eating at the table...Sunday dinners especially or Joe's Barbeque! I'm putting a moratorium on pictures taken while eating, but in the spirit of remembrance, who can forget Karen's visiting at the table! She was always very engaging.

Temple Day

We attended the temple together with the Arizona family. Eric was traveling, but this was a fond memory of being together. This picture was dated 3/25/06, not that long before Karen left for Utah and her transplant.

Kathy & Paul William's marriage - June 22nd

Aunt Kathy and Uncle Paul's wedding reception with Karen in the middle, Susan Barber on the left and Bonnie Barber on the right. This was held in Provo and was a fond cousin memory.

The Arizona family

This picture was taken in 2006 and I recall it was a dropby visit at Mom and Dad's, with Gary, Mom, Karen and myself. Karen and I believed that you could never have enough white shirts...and we were in sync this day!

In the Kitchen

I miss having Karen clomping through our door coming over for Sunday dinners and family events! Yes, she clomped in, as many of her shoes were backless and I could always tell it was Karen that just walked through the door.

Karen, me and David

This picture was taken at Aunt Isabel's house in Cedar City. We would stay there on the occasion when we were passing through town and all hang out and sleep in the big basement room. The room was filled with interesting stuff such as hospital beds and such and sometimes it was scary at night!

Karen, the fun girl

Karen was so fun to be around...always posing, dancing and being playful, as evidenced here. She was a joyful soul!

Young Idahoan

This picture was taking at our Idaho home on the north side of the house with the garden in the background. Looks like Karen was enjoying at an early age putzing around the yard!

Memorable trip east

This was taken in Central Park on a trip with David, Karen and Mom and Dad. They met up with Gary in New York as he was attending a hotel convention. They ate at Tavern on the Green and visited the Metropolitan Museum.

4 Generations

This picture was taken at Meghan's home by the Mesa Country Club and we had gotten together for Sunday dinner on Mother's Day 2oo1. Meghan is holding Lauryn who was born the previous October. Karen and Eric had moved to Mesa in 2000.

Karen's Things

It may be easier to ask the question...what DIDN'T Karen collect?! While Karen was in the hospital in Salt Lake and it didn't look like she was going to make it, I decided that I would take some shots of Karen's home to perserve the memory of what was. The following pictures are the ones I took.

Karen's Closet, Bathroom and the Cubbie Hubby!

Karen's collection of shoes

and more shoes!

More closet items...

Small portion of her purse collection

Clothes and more shoes...

Bathroom paraphernalia

Nail polish and tools
and last, but not least...what we refer to as the cubbie hubby! Eric built this for Karen to store her clothing in the bedroom.
